Ninkasi Brewing ReleaseWriting for a beer blog is not a bad gig. You get to try new brews all the time, you get to be creative with writing about beer, and from time to time, you get invited to go to releases of new beers.

Recently the team at Blog About Beer had the privilege of attending a release tasting for Ninkasi Brewing. Ninkasi is based in Eugene, Oregon and has been providing the Northwest with fine beers since 2006.

The bill of fare included Pravda Bohemian Pils-Style Lager, Renewale Alt Pale Ale 2014, and Dawn of the Red IRA Ale.

The rendezvous point was a beer bar aptly named, “Beer,” and the new release beers were being poured in the back room along with cheese pairing for each individual style.

The Pravda Bohemian Pils-Style Lager was first on the menu and being true to style, poured a nice golden color. With a spicy floral aroma from the Sazz hops, this medium-bodied refreshing beer is a gold medal winner from GABF in the Bohemian-Style Pilsener category.

Next up was the Renewale Alt Pale Ale. Starting with a pale ale base and brewing with an alt yeast strain, this Northern Germany inspired beer pours copper and has a nice malty aroma.

Last, but not least, is the Dawn of the Red IRA. This 7% ABV beer has notes of mango, papaya, and pineapple which compliment the subtle malt finish. This bottle is adorned with a hand “throwing the horns” made popular by ‘80’s rocker Ronnie James Dio…so what’s not to like?

After sampling these new offerings we were invited to have a free pint of whichever of the three new beers we liked best, again, not a bad gig!

So if you’re looking for something new to try in the craft beer scene, make sure to check out these new brews from Ninkasi, and let us know what you think of them!
