Peak Organic to Sponsor Farm Aid ‘07

Leading U.S.organic brewery Peak Organic Brewery (located in Portland, Maine) has announced their sponsorship of Farm Aid 2007: A Homegrown Fesitval in New York City on September 9th. Peak Organic praised Farm Aid “for forging the urban-rural partnership needed to ensure the survival of the American family farmer”.  All three of Peak Organic Brewing’s beers–pale ale, amber ale, and nut brown ale–will be on tap at this year’s Farm Aid Event in the Big Apple.

“By holding the Farm Aid concert in the Big Apple, Farm Aid is giving us all a wake-up call. It is time for urban and rural communities to work together to ensure the survival of the U.S. family farmer. Family farmers, especially organic farmers, are creating the highest quality products in agriculture today, and they deserve to be supported. Thank you Farm Aid for leading the way.” – Jon Cadoux, craft brewery and founder of Peak Organic Brewing Co.

Pumpkinhead Wins!

One of our favorite Maine Brews proved a winner this weekend. Shipyard Brewing Company’s Pumpkinhead Ale won 1st place in the Specialty Beer Category at the 13th annual California Brewers Festival in Sacramento, California. Shipyard’s Chamberlain Pale Ale also received 2nd place in the English Pale Ales category. Sea Dog Brewing Company (which is owned by Shipyard) also took home two awards in the fruit beer category: Sea Dog Bluepaw Wild Blueberry Wheat Ale won 1st place followed by Sea Dog Apricot for 2nd place.Earlier this summer, Chamberlain won 1st place in the English Pale Ale category at the prestigious West Coast Brew Fest’s Commercial Craft Competition in Sacramento, California and Sea Dog Apricot won 3rd place in the fruit beer competition. Pumpkinhead is on shelves across the North East now; go try one for yourself!
