The Hump Day Genius Fix is Back

by Luke on December 19, 2007

After a couple-week-long hiatus (sorry about that!), the Hump Day Genius Fix is back. In case you’re just tuning it, it was a a weekly series I had been doing every Wednesday (“Hump Day”) where I delivered a funny and often timely [tag]Bud Light[/tag] [tag]Real Men of Genius[/tag] radio commercial to all who cared to listen. While I in no way indorse anything having to do with [tag]Budweiser[/tag] or their [tag]beer[/tag]s, you have to admit that their commercials are just down-right hilarious.

So, without further adieu, this week’s installment of the [tag]Hump Day[/tag] Genius Fix – just in time for the big holiday weekend, Mr. Holiday Gift Register Guy (click the play button below to listen).

Have a happy, safe & beer-filled holiday everyone. Cheers!

Hump Day Genius Fix part 9

by Luke on November 28, 2007

It’s the time of year where families are starting to get their Christmas trees up – sometimes they hike into the forest in search of the perfect tree, other times they hike to the parking lot of the local “closed for the season” ice cream shop in support of the local Rotary Club and sometimes, like in this “Real Men of Genius” commercial, they trek to their local Home Depot and pick out the perfect, pre-lit, artificial tree, complete with spray-on pine scent. So, to celebrate such a special occasion, this week blogaboutbeer.com brings you – Mr. Artificial Tree Maker (click below to listen). Cheers.

Hump Day Genius Fix, Thanksgiving Edition

by Luke on November 21, 2007

After a few week hiatus, Blog About Beer’s weekly Hump Day Genius Fix is back, and back with a bang. Due to the timeliness of the post, I thought – what better way to celebrate than with “Mr. Frozen Turkey Helpline Guy” (click below to listen). And, did you know that a turkey can drown if they look up when its raining? True story.

However you choose to celebrate Thanksgiving (I’ll be doing mine with a Tofurkey), I hope you all have a happy & (good) beer-filled day!

Cheers.

Hump Day Genius Fix Halloween Edition

by Luke on October 31, 2007

Happy Halloween! For this week’s Hump Day Genius Fix, being ol’ Hallow’s Eve and all, I thought it only fitting to entertain you with “Mr. After Halloween Costume Shop Salesman” (click below to listen). According to Wikipedia, the term Halloween (and its alternative rendering Hallowe’en) is shortened from All-hallow-even, as it is the eve of “All Hallows’ Day”, also which is now known as All Saints’ Day. Some modern Halloween traditions developed out of older pagan traditions, especially surrounding the Irish holiday Samhain, a day associated both with the harvest and otherworldly spirits. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century.

It was estimated that there were 36.1 million potential trick-or-treaters in 2006; the U.S. produces 1 billion pounds of pumpkins annually; Americans consume an average of 26 pounds of candy per capita (most around Halloween) annually; and Number of costume rental and formal wear establishments across the nation in 2005 was 2,232. But best of all, there are 161 different beers matching the search for “pumpkin ale” on beeradvocate.com, so drink up. and happy Halloween.

Hump Day Genius Fix, Part 6

by Luke on October 24, 2007

You’ve probably noticed a recurring theme of sports running throughout the Hump Day Genius posts these last few weeks–due in no small part to my obsession with baseball–but what with today being the first day of the World Series, I just couldn’t break the trend this week. That being said, click below to listen to Mr. Ceremonial First Pitch Thrower Outer and Go Red Sox!
