The Hump Day Genius Fix is Back

Wednesday, December 19th, 2007 | Hump Day Genius Fix with No Comments »

If you're new here, you may want to subscribe to my RSS feed. Thanks for visiting!

After a couple-week-long hiatus (sorry about that!), the Hump Day Genius Fix is back. In case you’re just tuning it, it was a a weekly series I had been doing every Wednesday (”Hump Day”) where I delivered a funny and often timely Bud Light Real Men of Genius radio commercial to all who cared to listen. While I in no way indorse anything having to do with Budweiser or their beers, you have to admit that their commercials are just down-right hilarious.

So, without further adieu, this week’s installment of the Hump Day Genius Fix - just in time for the big holiday weekend, Mr. Holiday Gift Register Guy (click the play button below to listen).

Have a happy, safe & beer-filled holiday everyone. Cheers!

Hump Day Genius Fix part 9

Wednesday, November 28th, 2007 | Hump Day Genius Fix with 1 Comment

It’s the time of year where families are starting to get their Christmas trees up - sometimes they hike into the forest in search of the perfect tree, other times they hike to the parking lot of the local “closed for the season” ice cream shop in support of the local Rotary Club and sometimes, like in this “Real Men of Genius” commercial, they trek to their local Home Depot and pick out the perfect, pre-lit, artificial tree, complete with spray-on pine scent. So, to celebrate such a special occasion, this week blogaboutbeer.com brings you - Mr. Artificial Tree Maker (click below to listen). Cheers.

Hump Day Genius Fix, Thanksgiving Edition

Wednesday, November 21st, 2007 | Hump Day Genius Fix with No Comments »

After a few week hiatus, Blog About Beer’s weekly Hump Day Genius Fix is back, and back with a bang. Due to the timeliness of the post, I thought - what better way to celebrate than with “Mr. Frozen Turkey Helpline Guy” (click below to listen). And, did you know that a turkey can drown if they look up when its raining? True story.

However you choose to celebrate Thanksgiving (I’ll be doing mine with a Tofurkey), I hope you all have a happy & (good) beer-filled day!

Cheers.

Hump Day Genius Fix Halloween Edition

Wednesday, October 31st, 2007 | Hump Day Genius Fix with No Comments »

Happy Halloween! For this week’s Hump Day Genius Fix, being ol’ Hallow’s Eve and all, I thought it only fitting to entertain you with “Mr. After Halloween Costume Shop Salesman” (click below to listen). According to Wikipedia, the term Halloween (and its alternative rendering Hallowe’en) is shortened from All-hallow-even, as it is the eve of “All Hallows’ Day”, also which is now known as All Saints’ Day. Some modern Halloween traditions developed out of older pagan traditions, especially surrounding the Irish holiday Samhain, a day associated both with the harvest and otherworldly spirits. Irish and Scottish immigrants carried versions of the tradition to North America in the nineteenth century. Other western countries embraced the holiday in the late twentieth century.

It was estimated that there were 36.1 million potential trick-or-treaters in 2006; the U.S. produces 1 billion pounds of pumpkins annually; Americans consume an average of 26 pounds of candy per capita (most around Halloween) annually; and Number of costume rental and formal wear establishments across the nation in 2005 was 2,232. But best of all, there are 161 different beers matching the search for “pumpkin ale” on beeradvocate.com, so drink up. and happy Halloween.

Hump Day Genius Fix, Part 6

Wednesday, October 24th, 2007 | Hump Day Genius Fix with No Comments »

You’ve probably noticed a recurring theme of sports running throughout the Hump Day Genius posts these last few weeks–due in no small part to my obsession with baseball–but what with today being the first day of the World Series, I just couldn’t break the trend this week. That being said, click below to listen to Mr. Ceremonial First Pitch Thrower Outer and Go Red Sox!

Hump Day Genius Fix Part 5

Wednesday, October 10th, 2007 | Hump Day Genius Fix with No Comments »

Happy Wednesday, everyone! The next few weeks–what with the ALCS & NLCS on our doorsteps, and the match-up between the undefeated Patriots & Cowboys this Sunday–are a sports lover’s dream. With that in mind, today I thought it fitting to bring you: Mr. Pro Sports Heckler Guy. So kick back, open a brew (other than Bud Light; unless of course you love genetically altered ingredients) and good luck making it through the rest of the work week. cheers!

This week’s Hump Day Genius Fix celebrates the first day of the MLB playoffs with Mr. Outside the Stadium Peanut Seller (click the play button below to listen). This is the post season, this is what baseball is all about, so crack open your favorite brews and remember what being a fan is all about! cheers!

Did you know: Coors Field, home to the Colorado Rockies, is actually located 21 feet below street level. Its old-fashioned brick facade allows the ballpark to blend into downtown Denver.

Hump Day Genius Fix Part Three

Wednesday, September 26th, 2007 | Hump Day Genius Fix with No Comments »

That’s right boys & girls - its that time of the week again. And to help you through the middle of your work week, today Blog About Beer salutes you, Mr. 80 SPF Sunblock Wearer. I thought it especially fitting given the unseasonably warm weather here in New England today. So sit back, stay cool, and enjoy (click the play button at the bottom of the post to listen).

Fun Facts:

  • SPF (Sun Protection Factor) is the number (2 through 60) that tells you the amount of time it will take your skin to burn with sunscreen on, compared to the amount of time before you’d burn with no sunscreen.
  • SPF ratings are based on the estimate that one can be in the sun for about 20 minutes before burning without using ANY sunscreen.

Last Wednesday Blog About Beer debuted our Hump Day Genius Fix post - An MP3 of the best of the Bud Light Real Men of Genius radio ads to help you through the rest of the work week. While we support nothing about Bud Light itself, you have to admit that the radio ads are funny as hell. So sit back, crack open something worthwhile (if your boss is cool enough to let you drink on the job), and enjoy Mr. Taxi Cab Over-Accessorizer. Cheers.

Hump Day Genius Fix

Wednesday, September 12th, 2007 | Hump Day Genius Fix with No Comments »

Sitting at my desk this morning, I decided that there’s nothing better for getting through Hump Day than a dose of Bud Light’s Real Men of Genius. While there is nothing at all appealing about Bud Light, their commercials really are genius. So, from here on out, every Wednesday, blogaboutbeer.com will give you a new Real Men of Genius commerical to help you make it through the rest of your work week. We’ll begin with Mr. Overzealous Foulball Catcher. Click below to listen to the mp3. Cheers.
