Today, August 2th, marks the one year anniversary of BlogAboutBeer.com. When I got into blogging a year ago, I had absolutely no idea what I was doing. The site was a mess, my stories were a mess and I didn’t think I would (or should) stick with it.

Now a year later, it’s grown into a full-fledged obsession. I’ve met and talked with a lot of great people – especially those in the local Portland beer scene – from all across the brewing industry and gotten to do a lot of great things and taste a lot of great beer I’m sure I wouldn’t have done otherwise.

But the best part has been, while I’ve been trying to educate others about all things beer, I’ve really educated myself. I’ve learned more about beer (and grown a larger obsession) than I ever expected.

And it seems to have paid off… 380 posts later, hundreds of people now check out blogaboutbeer.com — and well over 100 more access the site via its RSS feed – every day! So thank you all so much for your support throughout the year; I hope it leads to many, many more.

To celebrate the one year anniversary, I’m throwing a huge blog contest early in September, with lots of great prizes and incentives (if you represent a company who would like to donate a prize of your own, please contact me!), so be sure and check back in a few weeks for all of the details!
