As the beer festival season finally gets into full swing and with Oktoberfest just a drunken stumble away, festivals are just popping up across the globe. Including the Taybeh Oktoberfest, set in the bad lands of the Palestinian West Bank.

Held in the town of the same name, the Taybeh festival is run by a local microbrewery, the only one in Palestine, and supported by Palestine’s small but vibrant Christian community (and some of their less conservative Muslim neighbors).

The microbrewery adheres to the German purity law and apparently serves up some tasty brews at just a pound a pint; but are they worth risking life & limb for?
